Choose the diameter for the furniture first, then check that the position has enough light. A 4.5" globe fits a working desk; an 8.5" globe needs a dedicated surface. If rotation later stops, test the light and nearby metal before assuming the globe is faulty.
Current 68travel MOVA listings use three sphere sizes. Not every graphic exists in all three.
|
Sphere diameter |
Typical place |
Why it works |
Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
|
4.5" / 11.4 cm |
Desk, narrow bookcase, gift that should stay compact |
Easy to live with on a working surface |
Less presence from across a room; many art designs stop at this size |
|
6" / 15.3 cm |
Open shelf, side table, most home offices |
More visible at room distance than 4.5" |
Uses more shelf or desk space |
|
8.5" / 21.6 cm |
Console, mantel, reception or a dedicated display |
Strongest visual presence |
Fewer designs and the widest stable surface required |
If two people will share a gift decision, agree the surface first. A beautiful 8.5" globe is the wrong answer for a laptop-width desk.
The globe arrives with a three-prong acrylic stand. Insert each prong fully, rounded side up, then set the sphere on top in a well-lit place and wait a couple of minutes.
For a more finished display, compare Crystal, Square, and Arched options in the MOVA globe bases and accessories guide. Match the base to the globe diameter before adding it to the order.
Good default: an indoor desk, shelf, or side table with steady LED, fluorescent, or indirect window light.
Leave space. MOVA’s troubleshooting advice is to keep the globe about 1–2 feet from other MOVA globes, iron or metal objects, large electronics, and metal surfaces or fixtures.
If the graphic is dark, put it under a brighter lamp rather than in a shaded alcove. If the only bright place is a sunny windowsill, choose a different surface — prolonged direct sun is a fading risk, covered on the care page.
Steel structures can interfere with the magnetic field the globe relies on. MOVA suggests testing another room, or even a ground-floor location, when an undamaged globe still will not start.
Use these steps only when there are no cracks or drop marks and the small bottom bubble matches MOVA’s description of normal construction. If the shell or bubble looks abnormal, contact support.
Put the globe under a bright lamp, or in indirect sun by a window, so light can reach the inner film.
Move it 1–2 feet from metal, electronics, fixtures, and any second globe.
Try another room. The problem is sometimes the building, not the product.
MOVA’s last home test is to rest a paperclip on top for about an hour so it can interact with the inner magnet. If the clip never catches and the globe never starts, MOVA says a replacement may be needed; for a 68travel purchase, contact 68travel support.
Do not keep stacking magnets, metal display hardware, or a phone speaker against the stand “to help it.” That is the opposite of the published advice.
