Hemisferium Hartmann 15 ∅ Astrolabe - Planispheric

The astrolabe was an indispensable tool for astronomers, astrologers, and surveyors in Europe until the end of the 17th century, when more accurate instruments replaced it. It continued to be used in the Arab world into the 19th century.

This planispheric astrolabe is based on the original by the German master Georg Hartmann (Nuremberg), now held at the British Museum in London. Hartmann was one of the most prolific makers of scientific instruments in the first half of the 16th century - his workshop produced sundials, astrolabes, quadrants, and astronomical compendia.

The replica is calculated for a latitude of 50°. Suitable as a collector’s item, a decorative piece, or an object for teaching the history of astronomy.

Note: This is a decorative historical Hemisferium replica, not a modern measuring instrument. As it is handmade, minor variations in the surface and details may occur.
