Repository
Always make sure the tent is dry and free of dirt before storing. Fold and roll the tent in a different way each time to prevent permanent wrinkling. Store the tent in a cool, dry place. Never leave the tent in hot temperatures for long periods of time (e.g. in the boot of a car or in attics) as this will damage the material covering. Storing the tent in damp conditions can result in mould growth which can cause odours, leaks or delamination of the tent. Mould damage is not covered under warranty.
Cleaning
For easy cleaning, sponge the product with warm water (not hot).
For more thorough cleaning you will need:
-A sink (or bathtub)-warm water (not hot)
-Waterproof tool cleaner (we recommend products such as Nikwax Tech Wash)
-Sponge
1. Immerse the gear in warm, clean water. Stir gently with your hands. Empty the dirty water. Repeat until most of the excess dirt/dirt is removed and the water is mostly clear.
2. Apply a specific wash to the waterproof gear and gently work it into the fabric using a sponge.
3. Rinse the gear thoroughly.
4. Hang it to dry.
5. Triple check that your gear is completely dry before storing or using it.
*Do not dry clean or machine wash. Dry cleaning detergents and solvents will damage the fabric and destroy the waterproofing.
*Never use hot water, bleach, liquid detergents or dishwashing liquids.
*Allow the fabric to dry COMPLETELY before storing or using.
*Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, as exposure to UV rays may impair waterproofing.
Seam sealing
Big Agnes tents are seam sealed as part of our manufacturing process! This seam tape alone is durable enough to prevent water leakage. Any seams that have been taped over do not need to be sealed with liquid sealant unless you want to get additional protection. Make sure the seam sealer is completely dry before re-packing the tent. Damage caused by improper use may void the warranty.
Zips
Keeping the zippers clean will help prevent wear and tear on the coils and sliders. If they are full of dirt, vacuum or brush the zippers before storing the tent. We recommend Gear Aid zipper cleaner and lubricant.
