David Beringer revived Renaissance polyhedral sundials in Nuremberg at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, adapting them into a cubic model. This replica is based on a piece dated between 1772 and 1821, attributed to his workshop.

The cube has five time dials. Each face has its own scale according to its orientation, and the gnomon's shadow indicates solar time. The eastern side has a plumb line, with a latitude scale below. The pillar folds down so the cube can be tilted to suit your location. A compass in the base is used to align it with the meridian.

It is straightforward to use: place the sundial on a flat surface in direct sunlight, use the compass to align the north face with the arrow, tilt the cube so the plumb line matches your latitude, and read the shadow on the time line. Instructions are included with each instrument.

Hand-assembled in the Hemisferium workshop in Madrid. It is suitable for a desk, study, or collection.

Dimensions: height 19 cm, width 14 cm, depth 16 cm.

Note: This is a decorative historical replica. It shows solar time but is not a modern measuring instrument. Minor variations in the surface and details may occur due to the handmade production.
