When you’re buying a premium wall piece online, the last thing you want is a message from customs asking for extra paperwork - or an unexpected bill that turns a great purchase into a frustrating one. At 68travel, our wooden maps and decorations are made in Europe and we ship across the world. That combination matters more than most people realize - especially when it comes to customs, VAT, other taxes and import fees.
In the wooden map market, not every brand is equally clear about taxes and customs. Some stores say “taxes and customs not included” and leave buyers guessing what will happen after checkout. We prefer the opposite approach: make it clear, remove friction, and support you through the process. That’s part of the customer experience we want to be known for. And because we’re a real in-house manufacturer for our core map and décor lines, we control more of the journey from production to packaging to dispatch.
If you’re ordering within the EU/EEA: no import customs
When our products are shipped from one EU country to another EU country, there are no import customs procedures (no customs declaration, no “customs release,” no courier asking you to pay import duty on delivery). That means EU customers usually get a simpler checkout experience and fewer “surprise steps” between order and delivery.
What about VAT?
Our prices are shown including VAT. VAT handling differs by customer type (consumer vs. business) and destination country.
Outside the EU: where there are no customs charges for our wooden maps & decorations
We also ship to several non-EU countries where there are no customs charges for our wooden maps and decorations. We handle the import procedures for you. For some countries, we collect applicable charges at checkout. These countries are:
Switzerland
USA
United Kingdom
Canada
Australia
New Zealand
Liechtenstein
Iceland
Norway
If you’re ordering from outside the EU: we handle the customs paperwork
Ordering from other non-EU destinations is different: your parcel may be processed by local customs authorities.
Here’s the important part:
✅ We prepare the required customs paperwork for the shipment so your parcel can be processed correctly. What you may still see depends on your country’s rules:
Import VAT / GST may be charged by your country.
Customs duties may apply depending on the destination and local thresholds.
A carrier may add a handling fee for customs processing.
Customs rules can change, so we avoid fixed promises. Contact us if you’re unsure: we can often explain the charges or prepare a special offer. We have shipped maps to almost 100 countries.
Buying as a business in the EU (B2B): VAT ID and VAT removal at checkout
If you’re purchasing as a business within the EU, we’re VAT registered and you can enter your EU VAT ID at checkout. We also provide an official VAT invoice for your purchase.
How it works:
Enter your EU VAT ID during checkout.
VAT will be removed for eligible countries.
Important exceptions: VAT removal via VAT ID is not available for countries where we are VAT-registered due to distance selling thresholds (Slovakia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, United Kingdom).
This is a practical option for:
hotels, offices, meeting rooms, travel agencies
corporate gifts and partner programs
interior designers and fit-out projects
Quick FAQs
Do I pay customs duty if I’m in any EU country?
No import customs applies when shipping within the EU. VAT is charged automatically at checkout and is included in the displayed price.
I’m in Switzerland / Norway / USA / Canada / Australia / New Zealand — will I pay customs?
For our wooden maps and decorations, there are no customs charges for those destinations listed above. If you’re unsure about your country, contact us.
Can you tell me the exact import fee in my country?
Rates and thresholds vary by country and can change, so we can’t reliably promise an exact amount. Check your local customs authority for current fees and our Shipping & Payment Options page for delivery information.
I’m buying as an EU business — can I remove VAT?
Yes. We’re VAT registered. And we provide official VAT invoice for your purchase. Enter your EU VAT ID at checkout and VAT will be removed.
Why do some brands feel “cheaper”?
If taxes and duties are not included, the final price can rise substantially after checkout. We aim to explain these costs upfront and direct you to the relevant policy details.
